Really loved most of this movie, but not sure how I feel about (or understand) the ending. Until then, it was a fantastic coming of age film that introduced me to a world that I did not know with some great style and wonderful performances.

A Real Pain 2024
I’m not sure why I was surprised by how heavy this movie was. After all, it deals with people choosing to take a vacation that involves understanding a history that, if not defined by, is definitely influenced by collective tragedy. The power is in the process of that collective tragedy setting the stage for exploration of personal loss, as well as the long standing dynamics that affect generations. A very thoughtful and sad film, punctuated by strong performances and a kind of travelogue of Poland in the present and past.

I feel like something happened in the last twenty minutes of this film. The music got weirder, and then the final match was presented in like five different style choices, including first person perspective that could make you dizzy.
