Late Night with the Devil 2023
I don't know about the ending but I was enthralled by the 2nd act (especially because of it's TV format). Didn't really enjoy the "backstage" footage because it didn't seem plausible along with a lot of things that occur throughout the film. I can suspend my disbelief with the other stuff but the idea that a camera followed and listened in on all these convos was kind of crazy. At least that is how I interpreted it during this viewing.
Anywayyy it was sick even though the controversy and ending weigh on it a wee bit.

Conflicted, because although this film wants to take the series back to its roots, unfortunately the time period and direction are kind of not allowing it to be. This felt to me like a bond between a genuine attempt to capture '54's tone and message but with techniques and direction influenced by the later Showa films just with less of the camp which still has the camp baked in.
What do I mean? I don't really know because I'm struggling…
