Real fun stuff, massively cool production design with all kinds of clever tricks for the sets, vfx and especially the droids, aliens and weapons - R2-D2, C-3PO, Darth Vader, everything about Mos Eisley. They give the world such a lived-in sci-fi feel and you can tell why this spawned a franchise.
I think the writing is good for what it is, but C-3PO's banter is a highlight. The actors charisma is definitely the thing which makes the film shine. Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, James Earl Jones, Peter Cushing and Anthony Daniels is an incredibly stacked cast which sells the entire script.
