The film starts and you’re desperate to be part of the love and chaos of it all before it morphs into a compelling depiction of (as Eunice herself says) the ‘psychological torture’ of the forced missing under the Brazilian military dictatorship.
Ultimately, a beautiful portrait of resilience and strength and love.
I would watch the scene of the water being poured over the marble on repeat
Did not drag, loved the interval, Adrien Brody is excellent, unconvinced by Guy Pearce, lovely library.
I understand why this film is a bit marmite, it lacks much of a plot and makes a life of not achieving much and smoking inside seem acceptable and maybe even appealing.
But I'm a sucker for films like Frances Ha, films that are about people being people. It's a bit Woody Allen and painfully charming. I just can't help but completely love it.
The best part was the Deadpool trailer before the film started. That and Miles Teller's face.
