The visuals, cast, and soundtrack do their best to overcome a lackluster script. Paced weirdly, the ending is shockingly unsatisfying. It wasn’t bad but rarely do I leave the theater thinking, “there may have been better things to do tonight”

Liked it a lot. Big fan of the set design and art direction. Robert Pattinson did a great job. Steven Yeun was also hilarious. While I wouldn’t call it a terrifically deep movie, I think it excels at showing you the ramifications of philosophical questions of life, death, and colonization. It’s an interpretation, not an open question. Can’t wait to watch it again in a year or two and see if my opinions change.

I think this movie strikes a chord with me because it brings some of my fears about life to the silver screen. The opening particularly captures this; a seemingly dead end, rural suburban couple stressed out by work and childcare. While Dean and Cyndi clearly love their kid, their relationship is strained as shown by their lack of patience with each other. This is reminiscent of the worst parts of my own parents’ marriage, something I hope to never replicate.…
