Day of the Dead 1985
The last film of the (first) trilogy. The acting performances left a bit to be desired (aside from those of Howard Sherman and Richard Liberty), and the characterization of the soldiers was flat - Steel in particular had potential to be more than what was ultimately shown. The plot made up for that however, showing the last vestiges of order at a hastily-assembled military laboratory (perhaps the final outpost of humanity?) collapsing under pressures both internal and external. And the effects and gore (important for a movie like this) did not disappoint.
