Kurosawa AND a detective film? Could it be any cooler?

I really liked it. It has all the hallmarks of a great detective film and more

It was weird seeing Mifune in a contemporary setting and clothing. Usually he's in some samurai garb, set against feudal Japan. But it was refreshing to see otherwise

Apparently Spike Lee is doing a remake, with Denzel leading. Whether it'll be good or bad, I don't know; I've never seen a film from Lee, but I'm sure Denzel will act his ass off

Me second viewing, and I liked it much more this time around. It's what I figured would happen, but I just understood it a wee bit better than last

I barely understood any of it. But I still kinda enjoyed it. Like, you've got to be a little insane to be able to come up with all this, but there's still a sense of cohesion. It's not a total mess, but I'm sure I'll like some of his later works more

Man goes into a fugue state while trying to be a single father

I quite liked all the effects. The baby was creepy but it moved in a really interesting way. And all those close ups on the various glossy things were cool to look at
