A compelling film that relies on qualities separate from dialogue. Built on a theme that hides from the surface, which seemingly confuses audiences (including me) at times.

There were qualities that I enjoyed but definitely not the best in its genre, in my opinion. As a viewer I prefer stronger dialogue, especially when there is not an obvious theme. I can appreciate the film as it does do a lot of things technically sound. At times the thematic elements seemed…

Can get a little slow throughout the story, which isn’t necessarily unfamiliar for a Tarantino film. The ending is one of my favorite sequences of all time, it’s so great. Brad Pitt and Leo obviously did their things but the talent in the lesser known (at the time) cast members was very evident here.

I always find it interesting when actors act as actors, somehow you can always tell the difference. Like when Leo was being Rick Dalton or being one of his characters for example. There is a difference there, and I would imagine that takes a lot of talent.

On a rewatch I still think Anora wasn’t not deserving of its academy success. My only problem with it was the repetitiveness of 2/3 acts. Much of the first act is just fucking and relationship, much of the 2nd act of the film was just yelling and looking for dude.
