It's so nice to see that a name as synonymous with the game of baseball as Jackie Robinson can be said in the same breath for an actor such as Chadwick Boseman, a man who played many characters that carries such an influence on the world, though gone too soon. Nonetheless, this film really feels like an authentic portrayal of Jackie's career to get to the Majors that this movie serves this story right.

Crazy in retrospect to think that a film such as this, tackling themes and topics such as isolation came out sometime just under 6 months from when the pandemic started.

With this film exploring women's desire in a certain way, it does a good job of portraying the turmoil that might occur. It has some good laughs even if it dips off in the second half. While I may not have connected with everything in the story, it's something that I feel a lot of people would be able to take away something from it.

Always seemed to feel at an arm's distance from this film as maybe if I wasn't generations removed from family members serving the military/war it would connect more. But even still you take that element out (barring if it was not being a true story) it wouldn't have made a difference. It had a few laughs but it missed more than it worked.

While in a normal setting, this might seem mundane, but this movie really captures the intensity of it all. Right from when it starts till it's end, you're enamored by it and never out of it.

This just felt like a fresh take on the action film that I really enjoyed. Some of the choices in the build up seemed odd, but I don't know how we get to it's conclusion otherwise.
