Alright, so I was feeling absolutely floored and a bit silly walking away from this one after the first time I saw it (in my room on my modestly sized TV before going to see Pearl at the theater), and made a dumb joke instead of giving this thing the proper review it deserved. After experiencing this on the big screen tonight, I found myself with more to say about it, and a lot of little things I didn't catch…
Decided to mess with the color settings on my TV and experience it in black and white for the first time to give it that true noir feeling.
From the strong script to the flawless performances and Jerry Goldsmith's enchanting score (composed and recorded in only 10 days, by the way), there's soo many reasons to love this movie.
That ending still gets me every time.
