I have absolutely no idea how to review this film without ruining the whole thing.
Just know that the first 40 minutes will probably piss you off that this film got such great reviews, only for the rest of the film to completely reward you for sticking with it and waiting for the pay off!
Might be the most I've enjoyed a Pixar film in a long time.
Rather than trying to carry on a franchise that should have never have continued, or just making a film whose sole purpose is to make people cry, instead Pixar have taken a lot of inspiration from classic Miyazaki films.
Small scenic settings, delicious looking food, warm enjoyable characters and a delightfully low stakes story make this feel like a comfort food film.
Possibly the most Dad move ever made.
Tom Hanks is everyones favourite dad, being dad to all the boys on a WW2 ship escorting a convoy of ships of whom he is dad to all the ships.
Perfectly functional with some decent action scenes. Never reaches the heights of a Red October, Master & Commander or Dad Boot, but also is never bad either.
