There was a time right around the late 90s when they were just churning out white-wealthy-families-getting-pissy-at-dinner movies and plays left and right because, I don't know, boomers were waking up to how hollow the American Dream is and man, I thought if I can just hang on to the biz for 20 or 30 more years I will age into the burn-out dad roles in those stories and I will never stop working, I will be so, so fucking rich.…

I'm back in the saddle again
Out where a friend is a friend
    Where the longhorn cattle feed
    On the lowly jimson weed

    I go my way
    Back in the saddle again

I really liked the animated storytelling…

Lovely, very gentle tribute to the filmmaker's aunt, who took her double bass and became the first woman to play in the New York Philharmonic (1966!!). She and the filmmaker appear to be each other's last remaining relative.

A life spent in one of the world's preeminent orchestras will always be fascinating to me and I found her life-long reticence to stand out, despite being an only child of movie stars, to be intriguing.

I wish the documentary had gone…
