When I tell you I did not see that coming. Jesus Christ I can feel this movie beginning to form personality; but then again, I weirdly feel like its always been a part of me

This movie could’ve been great, but it’s too awkwardly indecisive between being a soppy romcom and a depressing indie film. If the emotional, thought-provoking element had been played up further rather than trying embarrassingly hard to be quirky and funny, it would’ve been really beautiful. The amount of hate for Tom doesn’t feel justified either; he acted entitled and irrationally, but that’s the whole point. Things don’t make sense when you’re in love and you cant act rationally.

I wanted to love this so much, because I’m really fascinated by the concept of linking the metaphysical aspect/theme of grief etc., to self-acceptance, moving on, characterised by a budding romance in this case; but it just felt like something wasnt there.

Performances are beautiful, as is Paul Mescal :) And I thought it explored the idea of feeling trapped by who you were, especially that inner child due to past trauma, and when linked to queer identity especially set…
