Fast X 2023
Our most vibrantly silly and consistently blood-pumping action franchise shorn of energy and verve by joyless studio hack Louis Leterrier. Gray, dull, drab. The absence of Justin Lin's increasingly confident directorial style is felt for every minute of this bloated (yet incomplete feeling) runtime, especially in Fast X's weak framing and obnoxious overuse of coverage. Leterrier can only seem to muster a pale imitation of the stylish and assured flavor of high-voltage action excellence Lin has spent years refining and perfecting. What a disappointment.
