  Starts out promising but ultimately peters out by episode 2. Stephen Graham’s absence from the bulk of this series is the biggest crime. What a waste.

  There’s a strange halting nature to the dialogue between the actors here and it’s not so much that it didn’t translate to English. Almodóvar writes like this in Spanish, too. However, his Spanish language films are heavily inspired by telenovelas and it didn’t feel like Swinton, Moore, or Tuturro played into that element of camp. White Anglo Americans don’t interact with each other in the way they’re portrayed to in this film so I kind of struggled to suspend disbelief.…

  I might need to rewatch this. First viewing, it wasn’t my fav Villeneuve. I watched on HBO Max so maybe that was my first mistake. Might need to see in theater.
