has a feeling of shakesperian tragedy. cinematic references to taxi driver (and i assume french noir) are so well done, I love a film that knows its art form. the dialogue was so well written and acted, overlapping lines true to life but embedded with these morbid philosophical phrases. 'hate breeds hate' and 'so far, so good.'

there is so much warmth in this for a film that is ultimately about loneliness.
it is also one of the most gorgeous films I have ever seen. something about that arsenic green, perpetual nighttime speaks to being young and mad about someone who doesn't like you back.

pulp fiction has an infuriating arrogant swagger, a film id love to hate, but just can't. something strange happens to gen z when a piece of media is so beloved so universally renowned as good that to earnestly like it is social suicide, to drop all pretence a wry knowing irony and say 'pulp fiction is a good film, that draws humorously and stylishly on the great archetypes of american cinema' puts you immediately in the firing line of merciless ridicule.
i dare you to say what you mean. to never take anything seriously is to never live.
