  I'm a huge fan of the original so I was mildly interested when this was first announced. Then hearing about the plot and that it'd be set in South Africa, I'm pretty sure I groaned out loud. The trailer didn't help matters. I finally decided to start watching it last night and made it about 10 minutes or so in and just turned it off. The fx seemed adequate but it was wholly lacking in charm, wit or comedic moments. Bleh.

  Very bland Die Hard ripoff. Clive Owen is in it for about 10 minutes and over an hour of the film has passed by the time Daisy even gets off the window cleaner lift. Shame, as I like most of the actors in this.

  Great cinematography and the concept was pretty interesting. The family drama was pretty absorbing even though some of it was cringe and the acting wasn't always great. It's not scary at all though and the level of dread tends to waver. I also have some questions about the intervening of the "presence". Trip a motherfucker or something. Great ending though.
