I am a sucker for weird russian movies and this one was one of them.
The lore/plot is simple, yet you can feel the "almost post soviet era" time of Russia. Maybe me being drunk and the verge of a breakdown effected the emotional connection between me and the movie, but I liked it very much. The sadness and the solution of a man in distress in something that you dont just "disregard." I have not much else to add besides to advise people to watch it.

The captivating soundtrack, backed with beautiful filming.
I felt as if I was watching a child, that was made by True Detective (season 1) and the movie Night Crawler. Of course they were some cliche moments in the movie but it was very pleasant to watch.
And the soundtrack was immediately added to my spotify after watching the movie.

Worth the watch, though I wish they continued the gambling aspect a little more.

To not include many spoilers and mess up the experience of people I will keep it short. He is, Paul Newman everybody, I feel as if we forget or go over this fact a lot. The perfect fit in my opinion. The movie depicts the mindset of a gambler/hustler really well. The "shaken" nature of our protagonist in different scenarios (serious scenes in pool or when he loses/ gets challenged by other players) helps the viewer to understand the stress…
