Tepid, overlong, rarely attempts anything truly visceral or unexpected. Everything in the lead up to Thomas meeting Orlok has a real ominous weight and atmosphere. As soon as that threat becomes a real presence though, all of that dissipates -- from that point on, you know what the movie will be while it meanders to an end, and it never defies that. It's all just too damn disciplined to ever feel dangerous.

Love how this feints at a safe "nerdy guy learns to adapt the best elements from his cool alter ego" take on identity, only to go and push that transformation all the way into A History of Violence territory. Fun!
