The Substance 2024
Well, that certainly ended differently than it started! Loved the cinematography. Hated the Tim and Eric editing that started to leak in. It's about as subtle as a ton of bricks to the head, but Dennis Quaid's character took it off the rails for me. Fun to watch, but I feel like the Academy overcorrected by nominating this. Prepare for more Green Books next year.

Such a frustrating movie. There was absolutely no need to shoot this in black and white, other than to make it feel important, historical, and worthy of an Oscar. And Kenneth picked the wrong year to do it anyway--The Tragedy of Macbeth makes everything else pale in comparison.
