  George Miller doesn't miss, and visually, this movie is absolutely stunning. I very much enjoyed the first two thirds of this with Idris Elba's Djinn telling stories of his endless life, but unfortunately, the romance of the third act didn't work for me at all.

  Just seven months after Longlegs, Osgood Perkins is back, and boy, I sure enjoyed The Monkey a hell of a lot more than his previous outing. Perkins clearly has an eye for great visuals, and I really enjoyed how many different ways he shows off the sinister monkey with its glowing eyes. The whole movie is pretty silly stuff, and some of the comedy didn't land for me, but overall it's fun as hell with one rowdy kill after another. Best seen with an audience at the theater, The Monkey is a dumb, violent good time
