    Hard to rate cuz it’s a five star movie in terms of vibes and viewing experience but I do wish there was a little more there there. Miss Reggie, my queen, you are lovely and charming and smart and I wish you had any motives besides not dying and trying to get in Cary Grant’s pants.

    On second thought, those are two perfectly reasonable driving forces.

    This movie is so deeply about class and race and, interestingly, not religion. Honestly surprised at how quietly but firmly it highlights the racism of rural Idaho (maybe bc Nacho Libre plays so fast and loose with race??). I wouldn’t say any character is complex, but they are all real, and the non-white characters’ unapologetic rootedness in their cultures comes off as tender and charming, rather than cheap caricature.
