There’s a moment at the end where the subtle shifts in E.T.’s facial expressions genuinely break my heart. Isn’t that wild? What a good movie.
Younger kids didn’t like it as much (despite laughing and screaming constantly). They said they didn’t like Elliot. I think that in Elliot they saw themselves - a character of pure emotion - and it made them uncomfortable.
They said that Elliot was annoying. I said that they were annoying. 4-stars and a heart.
