lady bird with more justified mom hate.
no but seriously, both movies are good and explore their own versions of mother-daughter relationships. going into this movie knowing that it’s “the original lady bird” definitely influenced my viewing and turned it more into a comparison between the two films. rwhc feels like more of a societal critique of the treatment of women in both american and latino culture whereas lady bird feels like a more personal story that touches on similar themes of class, belonging, and messy mommy issues.
