Very voyeuristic. This movie feels like it is told from the perspective of a slasher.
These men went to the Dirty Harry school of misanthropy and picked up, once again, some of the greatest jackets and coats I have seen on screen.
Stylistically, I enjoy whenever Kon fucks with diagetics or time, and this movie has plenty of that (specifically in certain chasing sequences). I like how Kon chose to make those scenes the most memorable, since it also appears to be his point. Yearning and unfulfilled desire fuel the artistic process and inadvertently creates the very things that make life memorable.
I think Perfect Blue walks away as my favorite Kon, with this, Paprika, and Tokyo Godfathers fighting neck and neck.

I remember getting this film assigned in a seminar about Paranoia in literature and falling in love instantly. This was the first "weird" film I had ever seen and piecing the meaning behind the narrative was a very satisfying puzzle.
