  Brothers and sisters I have been these men. And I suspect so has Eggers, who in the film’s most striking moments, demonstrates the harm endless toil and isolation do the soul. He has a gift for dialogue and is clearly a very meticulous storyteller. However, his understanding of pain only does so much to enrich this experience. My discovery: observing weariness wears one out.

  this was great! gorgeously shot and acted. depp was sensational, capturing the moral torment when one desires wrongly. didn’t care for orlok’s voice or pornstache but minor failings i can forgive.
