Burn After Reading 2008
A snide comedy which works for the relatively few laughs that it gets. Not a beer-and-pretzel comedy but one which perfect setup and release allowing you to steep in its strangeness before hitting you with its payoff.

Five Nights at Freddy's 2023
Bad in all of the worst ways. The horror is not scary, the writing is bland, and the story is borderline incomprehensible in an intellectual property known for having an elaborate story. The worst part and the cardinal sin is that the movie isn't funny--just irritating and long.

Blade Runner 2049 2017
Masterfully executed return of a titan. Very different from its predecessor but in all of the right ways. Villeneuve outdoes himself with visuals, performances are beautiful, and the conclusion is heart-rending. The biggest downside is Villeneuve's inability to re-capture the utter vivacity of LA from Blade Runner.
