  a very interesting take on the alien invasion genre, tho I do have some mixed feelings. The cinematography was AMAZING, and the way the creatures were depicted as both terrifying and breathtaking has me VERY excited for Gareth Edwards’ version of Jurassic World. It’s not Cloverfield or a consistently tense action thriller; it’s more of a slow and grounded slice of life depiction of living in a changed world.

  I found the first REC far scarier and preferred it in basically every way, but this was still a really fun sequel and worth watching imo! It follows directly on from the first film as a small SWAT team prepare to enter the building.

  For better or for worse they also developed the lore a lot more in this one (in a direction generic zombie movies don't usually go)

  this was honestly mesmerising and I felt SO immersed in the gothic world Eggers brought to life.
  I loved the cinematography so much -- even the most disturbing nightmarish scenes were beautiful and imo that's definitely this film's strong point. The casting was also really good, especially Willem Dafoe, Lily Rose Depp and Nicholas Hoult, and I adored the historical costumes (as well as all the cats)❤️ The mystical references were great & something I loved a lot in The Northman…

  So good!! Watched this w my friend and it was definitely worth it, 100% recommend. This had a really solid cast, cool cinematography (especially in the first half), practical effects, and great sound design. Everything worked so well to create such an intense atmosphere of dread and paranoia. Also ❤️JEFF GOLDBLUM❤️
