saw this during a class with the actress who played the main character. DAMN.
she and the director got the idea while hanging out at bar while talking about how they love the look of manicured nails but hate having them done.
people from the crew cut their own nails to help pile up clippings for the scenes, so the actress ended up eating real ones too.
it looks SO GOOD. and i was waiting for a twist, and i love what i got.

i gave ie 2,5 bc i gave the first one 3 and i think it was better.
people pointed out how similar it is to it follows (which is better). i also kept thinking about oculus (which is also better).
naomi scott is great. the atmosphere is really good, but idk, the pacing felt weird. maybe that was intentional. all in all, it's effective (hell, with that many jumpscares, it had to be).

couldn't help but find it absolutely preposterous in almost every way. i did enjoy some elements, there's a match cut (i believe?) thing that i liked a lot, and the dream/surreal part was interesting, but rest is just that, preposterous, completely, from the seeming acceptance of a severely mentally ill person (with super exaggerated acting and characterization) who's a danger to himself and to others, to the fucking irresponsability of everyone else. you can actually see it trying SO hard…
i'm only 00:06:26 into this, and already i feel the need to point out how absolutely fucking horrid the editing is.
three minutes later (that i skipped) i find lindsay isn't the investigator, so i'm asking myself why the fuck i'm watching this. so i watch lindsay's scene and can't bear the green screen shit show.
i have no words to tell you how much of a stinking trainwreck this is.
