Many years ago Val left her own daughter far away up north to work as a maid for a family in São Paulo, seemingly accepting the sacrifice and finding solace in caring (and loving) the rich family’s son Fabinho.
Guess who’s coming to town now? And there is no prize for guessing daughter Jéssica will turn the status quo on its head.

This was fun, nice, cute, charming, easy on the the eye and mind… but not all that much bite. Saw it yesterday and am struggling to remember much detail. So a disappointment, but not bad. Not the film’s fault I had high hopes going in. It is never boring or under par in any way, but got a phone-call halfway through and almost didn’t go back. Glad I did, though not much improved massively.
Was expecting something in the line…

A piece of beauty, and a perfect example of how to transform a simple story of revenge from the dead to the screen. Not every director will have a Barbara Steele, but not every director is a Bava and know how to use her, either.
Racing through the Aussies – the last months
Some great shots of surfing gets you right into the mood, and at heart this is a surfer movie and never drops that board (figuratively and literally). The water and the waves are calling even a non-surfer dude like me, the beaches look gorgeous (as they should, it’s NSW, FFS) and the colours are magnificent.
Which is badly needed, as everything else is black and white. Very black and white.
