Episode 3 is amongst the most masterfully crafted pieces of television that I’ve seen in years. The show certainly has its ups and downs, I won’t deny that. By the end, I couldn’t help but feel as though I was watching a very necessary piece of art that is further pushing forward a conversation that should and needs to be had more these days.
A masterclass in all things untrusting and paranoid. Time and time again on my journey through film I am left in awe by what Coppola and a consistent crew of filmmakers can achieve with a simple and strong concept. A must-see.
To this day one of the most visceral depictions of war you can find on film. Some scenes in this movie are an absolute gut punch and bring tears to my eyes. Spielberg did an amazing job of telling a war tale without demonizing the enemy countries or having an extreme hard on for America. Time and time again he finds ways (whether through score, location, or dialogue) to sprinkle in bits of hope and wonder throughout a film loaded…
Writing this upon freshly finishing this roller coaster of an action flick. All I can say is wow, this was one hell of a fun movie, though certainly not for the faint of heart. Breakneck action (literally) at a solid pace with far more exposition than the original. Please, do yourself a favor and watch The Raid series.
