I wasn’t really into watching this based on promo stuff, but word-of-mouth was strong and it just dropped on Peacock so I caved. My initial thoughts unfortunately proved to be correct.

Then the migration flight sequence happened. From then until closing credits it proved to be everything the masses proclaimed it to be.

Bottom line: It came out of the gates a bit slow for me, but it was worth the buildup for what was ultimately delivered.

The franchise as a whole was very consistent. I won’t ever argue any of the movies were good, but I was quite entertained. A fitting ending that I really enjoyed.

Oh my Godzilla! I was terrified of being overhyped and I STILL was not ready for how good this was! Not only the best of the year I’ve seen so far, but it’s also THE best Godzilla film ever!

I can’t say this is my favorite Godzilla movie. I can’t even say it’s the best one I’ve seen in months (have you seen -1 yet?!). What I can say is it was an absolute blast. Yeah, the dialogue is really expository and the human characters are wafer thin (although still mostly likable). But while those things are like a 4/10, the monster mayhem is a 19/10. I will need to watch it once or twice more to figure out where it lands in the Legendary Monsterverse lineup rankings, but for pure entertainment value it’s easily the most fun of that group for me.
