Anora 2024
Not impressed enough to think it deserves an Oscar (apart from Mikey's amazing acting). It was surprisingly funny, but also sad. It was hard for me to get through the first 40 minutes.
I just don't think that despite the importance of the message it brought, it wasn't achieved in the best way. I find it strange that the film is called Anora, since we've been given so little of this character.
Anyway, beautifully shot.

I never thought a film about a conclave would be so intriguing. Great cinematography, the score was always on point and I really enjoyed the build-up of tension throughout the narrative, as well as the subtle humour. The highlight of the film for me was not the control of power, but the conversations the film was trying to have. Some monologues were powerful but incomplete, cut off just when they seemed to be going the furthest.
