Fucking enthralling and heart pounding film. It gets you right into the action. It starts slow but once the action starts, there is no turning back. The sound design and mixing is absolutely incredible and easily a lock for the Oscars. But what sold me the idea of this story is the unfiltered and raw storytelling that Ray Mendoza brought to the image alongside Alex Garland’s co direction. It is a wild film and trust me, it’s different from your average military film.

After the countless reshoots and rewrites to save this film, I think they did save it but they were just a tiny bit away from being just a cookie-cutter mess. It technically still is, but by a miracle it barely worked.

Another Bong Joon-Ho sci-fi banger but it feels overstuffed. Oddly similar to Snowpiercer and Okja but mixed in together with on the nose satire that darkly hilariously works! As for the principal story itself, the story rides high but in the middle of the second act, the dialogue takes a long drag to get to the point. Yet, I was still engaged with the storytelling that Joon-Ho has delivered as always.
