Staged wonderfully but way too quietly paced for me to feel very much. But I could just be too 21st-century brained at this point to really appreciate what was surely one of the first, tightest takes on conspiracy and machination of the 20th.
The funniest part to me was B saying "it partly takes place in seattle" and then 90% of it was in los angeles.
shakespearean romp, with themes that would also fit into 17th century theater. bad disguises, superstition, how the fringes of society are more honest even as they have to deceive to survive.
also a movie where every woman is incredibly horny
watched with my mom while we ate dominos that she ordered.
thinking about b and what commitment means and what loving means and what forgetting means and what a story can mean
i didn't finish the lava cake.
hard to imagine that there's more to this story... i would personally find it difficult to pick this narrative back up, so i'm curious to see how it's done
i liked a lot of the gender/sexuality stuff in this movie, it was really hetero-optimistic in a way i don't think i've ever really seen and i appreciated it
35mm at roxie theater, it was real loud and life-affirming like almost nothing else is
