I really wanted to like this more. though expectations were lowered by widespread opinion.
Actually I didn't get that put off by the anachronisms and inaccuracies that some did; it's a movie not a documentary. I felt it was heading for a low 7/10 just generally for the first half, with everything seemingly rushed, derivative of what we've all seen before and lacking the heart of the original, though I tried not to compare the two, knowing this would come…

As a musical, without significant standout numbers, though a beautiful motif tune, I'm not convinced it works, but as a beautiful feel-good but bittersweet movie with outstanding acting, direction and powerful intensely moving story it earns every award it has been given
If I'd rewatch it more I'd have maked it higher but the fact this only just misses a 9/10 from me should be a huge recommendation.

Much better (in my opinion) than the poor reviews and poor box office figures might imply.

Maybe the audience was targeted poorly given it's so long since the original series so it's hard to work out who this would be aimed at (especially as it was left in it's original time period rather than brought into the modern era like Mission: Impossible) but whatever the reason a lot of people missed out on an exciting clever and often humorous action…

Great fun for the whole family... I don't think they balanced what adults would laugh at and what the kids would as well as (say) the brilliant Shrek or this year's competition Padington 2, but - judging by the laughter from whole families in the cinema where I was - there is something for everyone to enjoy, especially the young ones... Oh, and unlike some (who seem to be overly critical on principle just becuse he has got so popular), I thought Corden was really good as the voice of Peter.

Overall, certainly worth a watch for kids of all ages :)
