  The Trial 1962

  Nowhere near as gripping and interesting as the book it is based on. It's trying way to hard to be overwhelming through audiovisual means whereas the original text could invoke deep feeling of uneasiness through masterful storytelling. A laudable attempt at times, but one that ultimately fall flat.

  Okay, Michael Mann is actually goated. No one does thriller like he does. This is pure entertainment from start to finish. Collateral does a wonderful job of balancing action sequences, comedic relief and emotional arcs. The performances are on point, the twists are wild, what a ride!

  I've been lied to, this is dog water. As someone who doesn't really enjoy shonen anymore, I thought that this would add a little "oomph" to the genre or subvert my expectations in some ways. This ended up being a textbook example of everything I dislike about these anime. Vapid, cheesy, horny, uninspiring, derivative.

  Generally confusing, poorly written and overall a slow and tedious experience. The visuals weren't that impressive either.

  I did like the final message of the film and still want to applaud the director for trying something so bold and different.

  Also LMAO at all the half star reviews complaining about the so-called "trans agenda" in this movie, like did you even look up who Jane Schoenbrun was beforehand? Buncha pissbaby
