It's trying to do too many things without really committing to any of them. I'm distracted by how physics makes the entire 3d act impossible. I feel like maybe it should be set aside because this is try to be madcap alt-history, but then it takes deep pains to make it fit within history undetected, and get all noble and maudlin.
Whatever. It's generally charming and it was nice of NASA to tell Channing Tatum he could not be an astronaut because of his heart defect even though it's because he can't fit through the hatches.
In a word, unconvincing. I don’t just mean that the compositing of filmed and synthetic elements was more natural looking in Who Framed Rodger Rabbit, or the pretzel of a plot line. Somehow, I think the soundtrack was the worst part?

This is one of those movies that is untethered from so many of the things I think about when I review a film. It’s deeply 90s in visuals and story structure without actually resembling life in the 90s. The dialogue is terrible, but something quoted constantly decades later, and not really ironically. The very subject of the movie is something it seems uninterested in other than to admire the way it looks at a great distance. The movie is so…
