Doppelgänger 1969
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
for the longest time, I wasn't even sure this was a real film or a fever dream because I couldn't find any evidence that it actually existed. All I remember is that at the end of the movie, a guy is CONVINCED he's on Mirror-Earth, in the nuthouse, and crashes his wheelchair into the mirror. That's how it ends.
It had QUITE the effect on me as a kid.
To say it's a good movie would be making the word…Translated from by -
Rhinoceros 1964
I love it. It's certainly got nothing on the Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder version, which is much fuller because it's a performance of the play itself, but it's got its own charm as an avant-garde version of it.
I'll certainly be putting this on the syllabus in the future, it's a gem.Translated from by

Marketa Lazarová 1967
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Excellently filmed, beautifully shot, but for some reason I was expecting a lot more nuns. Something along the lines of The Devils, but it's a lot more about the rivalry of Czech nobles/horse thieves. Marketa isn't even who I'd call the main character, her *spoilers* eventual husband is.
Still definitely glad I watched it.

The Last Duel 2021
I could've lived without two entire graphic rape scenes, but I guess they really were necessary for the plot...
Overall, a good movie, I liked it, but it was incredibly heavy.also... probably not a great date night movie, but hey. I just like going out w/ bae, and that's what matters.
