  Depicts how people distort events to suit not just their case in court but also to match their fundamental understandings and beliefs about the world. Interesting how Tojomaru’s version of events is the least fundamentally depressing one- the samurai dies honorably and his wife at least gets a little dignity (he can’t imagine someone not fighting back). Machiko’s acting is literally insane as well. However, I don’t really like the use of random background characters to frame the whole story it gets a little too on the nose by the end.
