Okay, sure why not. Some great moments Willem Dafoe carried. I think though that I'm so far removed from the Vietnam War that my perception of this film is that much different from generations above me and especially academy voters in 1987. So don't think I can make any statement in regards to this as a best picture win. But go Willem!

I might change this later but I really didn't expect to love it as much as I did like omll. Maybe that's because Soderborghs credits weren't wowing me (sorry) especially in the horror film department, but now knowing David Koepp was behind it I never should have doubted. Was so engaged in the family dynamics (emotional incest AND tax fraud (??) double whammy), across the board I think that's what made the film as strong as it was for me.…
