Not sure what I loved about this movie more. That it did strike a pleasant emotional chord in me with memories of playing Sonic Adventure 2 on Gamecube back in the day...or that Keanu Reeves 100% bought a refurbished Dreamcast to do his research.
Dude threw a playing card so hard and well that it cut a guy's neck. I had to check if it was a special assassin playing card. Nope. It was just a card.
Despite its haphazard use of musical sensibilities (which I found infectious nonetheless) and the pacing hiccups inherent to the source material, Favreau's Jungle Book is a charming, heartwarming, digital Masterpiece brought to life with amazing digital/vocal performances, brilliant chemistry between characters and awe-inspiring direction.
To no one's surprise, Baby Driver continues an Edgar Wright showcase of excellent filmmaking. Wright uses the language of cinema (editing, sound, music, cinematography) to craft sequences of pure exhilaration, paired with his sharp comedic sensibilities and a stellar cast that keep you entirely engaged.
