Alien: Romulus 2024
This isn't a grand sequel but more like a reimagined Alien movie. It doesn't really bring anything new to the franchise. It is still a fun movie and I really enjoyed it nevertheless.
Fede Álvarez already did something similar with Evil Dead, taking the core of the original movie and gave it his own touch. Alien Romulus feels kind of similar (even if Evil Dead actually was a remake).

Poor Things 2023
A rather strange coming of age story combined with Frankenstein. Absolutely beautiful sets and costumes. Funny and smart writing. The selections of words and sentence structure (or lack thereof) are very deliberate, with a poetic feel to it.
It doesn't fully explore what the premise offers and at times tries to be more daring in aspects that don't matter too much while not being daring and unapologetic enough in others that would give the overall character/story arch more weight.
