There's great new insights in this one (it hits a lot of political targets) but too much stuff also feels too familiar and been there, seen that. At least we get a lot of more Patterson for our money.

All We Imagine as Light 2024
A feminist loveletter to choose your own love. It's not the destiny of women to marry men and follow them. There's so much more. Kapadia brillianty takes you through a unforgiving Mumbai that brims with unreachable possibilities for women and ends in a countryside that has so much more to offer on second sight.
Holding a rice cooker was never this intense

The Unvanquished 1964
The restless Alain Delon is perfect for this title character who can't and maybe even doesn't want to find peace in his life. There's a longing for love but it doesn't match his frustration, he can't kill it inside, although he seems often quite cool on the outside. It gives a sense of the feeling that there is no coming home from war.

Summer Hours 2008
The passing of time. The place where you grew up. The stories of objects. Ever evolving spaces and relations. I still get melancholic when I think about this beautiful portrait of a family where the children are gradually more and more focused on their own seeds and the mother tree becomes a memory.
The acting is beyond exquisite and the movement is just dazzling, every moment you feel closer to the lives of these characters. You get sucked in their everyday problems but with a complex backbone that makes you feel like one of them, trying to cope with all the variations of life.
