Taking some of the general ideas present in TMNT and turning them around to adapt them for a new generation, the great thing about this film was that it didn’t try and copy or recreate what had gone before. It was forging its own story and it’s own path.

Animation was incredible and so well done, reminded me very much of the recent Spider-Man film. Also the film is quite self contained and doesn’t require the need for further sequels…

Although not nearly as good as the book, Ready Player One is a fantastic film and I saw it several times in the cinema upon its original release. The story itself sees average Wade rise above the odds and conquer the evil corporation. Plus there’s probably more nostalgia than anything else. This film probably started the “reference craze” which now seems to be present in every single film.

What makes this film so compelling is that it actually happened. Very little of what’s contained within is dramatically changed and ultimately it exposes such fault as the greed in capitalism. Some phenomenal performances from stars such as Christian Bale make this an unmissable film.

As a fan of Michael Keaton’s Batman I was delighted to see him return to action in his iconic role during this film. I also felt as a stand-alone DC Film it was watchable, enjoyable and didn’t get too complicated. I would also find myself watching the film again at some point and did feel the film was good enough to call on repeat viewing at some stage in the future. There was a lot of bad press about the film during its release which initially made me skeptical about seeing it but I’m pleased I took the plunge and did it.
