The Double Life of Véronique 1991
The Polish section started off very promising, with the goosebump-inducing singing and puppet show. It had so much potential, but it didn’t really go anywhere. Once it got into the French section, it got confusing and dull, with some questionable scenes and an underwhelming ending. Nevertheless the cinematography was incredible throughout with a surreal use of colour and the use of sound remained impressive.

Conclave 2024
Interesting seeing some members of the Catholic Church’s approach to staying relevant in an increasingly liberal world. Humans being classifiers, one can imagine how the ending would go on to alter general perceptions with a pope seeming to be an “ambiguous” transgressor between gendered categories (sorry for the big anthropology terminology). Maybe that is what the world really needs!
