I had been meaning to watch this for years, finally got around to it, and I was not disappointed. Great descent into madness story with touches of body horror (having watched The Substance last night maybe this is an unintended theme?)

The Substance 2024
I described a movie I watched last year (I can't remember which) as "squelchy" but it doesn't have anything on this one. The most body-horroriest body horror that I've seen in a while, and the last few sequences remind me of the Gwar movies from the early 90s, which was an unexpected surprise given the sleek look and feel of the rest of the film. Ultimately though, an incredibly sad story! Dennis Quaid seemed to have fun, though, and Demi Moore & Margaret Qualley killed it (pun (was it a pun?) intended?)

The First Omen 2024
This movie felt like what Immaculate wanted to be. This is the third movie about nuns set in Italy that I've watched this season. Not something I set out to do, but something I did nonetheless.

Hellraiser 2022
This movie felt like an homage to early '00s horror movies; shitty club music, drug abuser main character, seedy rich guy played by a guy you recognize from somewhere*, an incredibly predictable heel turn, it’s all there.
Doesn't nearly reach the same heights as the original, but like another horror reboot from 2022 shot in eastern europe for a streaming service, I don't think that was the point. Still, I enjoyed this (despite the two hour runtime.)
*It was ER, that's where you know him from
