  One of the most masterful directorial debuts I’ve ever seen. Eggers creates two monster movies simultaneously, one where he waits til the end to show you the monster (god that witch sucking on a goat haunts me), and another where the monsters (pride, fundamentalist religious fervor) linger in every scene as they isolate a family from the world before turning them against each other. Wonderful performances by the entire cast. Best to watch with subtitles.
