Fast Times at Ridgemont High 1982
35mm screening. had seen large sections via basic cable before. some actual genuine laughs and one or two poignant moments that actually work. not quite up to the high level of quality attested by some, but some good elements in this smarmy-feeling movie.

I almost wish I could rate this lower, because--for whatever reason--I expected better. A made-for-TV feel at times. A movie that pulls some of its punches and then hides behind the punches it does take. Kinda fun. Kinda.

2nd time watching this one, and first time on 35mm. It holds up!
Although, I gotta say that the audience I saw this with, a weeknight Coolidge Corner Theatre audience, was pretty obnoxious; lots of late-comers, lots of laughter at things on screen that were both not intended to be funny and genuinely not funny, and the person next to me kept sneezing.
So yeah, looking forward to revisiting this one again either with a more respectful audience or just by myself. The last shot was just very slightly different than what I had remembered, and much more powerful.Translated from by -

I’ve seen this perhaps too many times but couldn’t resist a good 35mm print showing, especially since I had already made a surprisingly long journey (thanks MBTA) to get to the theatre to see Frenzy.
Everything up to and including the car sinking into the swamp is just some of the best filmmaking of all time. Unfortunately, while this film has one of the best characters and the absolute best performance of all Hitchcock films in Norman Bates/Anthony Perkins, the…Translated from by
