  Really enjoyed this on an aesthetic level. I'm overall a fan of Eggers, and the visual language established for the flow between reality and nightmares was both gorgeous and remarkably effective. I'm not a stickler for historical accuracy in production design, but when it's done well (and Eggers always does it well), the attention to detail really adds to the atmosphere. This film feels like how someone living in the sexually repressed and xenophobic culture of 1830s Germany would describe…
